Westelele Ukelele Youth Orchestra

Westelele is setting up an under 16’s Ukelele Orchestra and we are asking all budding young players, beginners and advanced to go to the Town Hall Theatre Westport every Saturday at 1pm for rehearsals and lessons. It’s all free and open to everyone under 16.

Looking forward to seeing you all and please bring your own ukulele if possible.

Happy New Year from Westelele!

Why not start off the New Year by learning an instrument and joining our Ukelele group.

Beginners are welcome and with practice you can pick up this simple instrument quite quickly while playing songs with a wonderful bunch of like-minded Ukelele players.

Classes start back on Saturday January 18th in the Town Hall Theatre Westport, Co.Mayo but you join anytime throughout the year. We have regular get togethers around the town of Westport and we are also planning a few trips etc to Ukulele festivals and events.

We are also giving free lessons to children every Saturday at 1.30pm!

New Members Welcome

Every Saturday 2pm Westelele gather on the 2nd floor at Westport Town Hall Theatre to learn, practice and enjoy all things Ukulele.

We need a few more members to join and whether you are a beginner or experienced we would love to have you join our group.

We also have a free children’s class at 1.30pm before the adult meeting!

We also are looking for a few male players to balance the harmonious vocal sounds from our group.

Come along and enjoy the songs, the music, the craic and most of all the UKELELE.

New Members Welcome!

Every Saturday at 2pm in the Town Hall Theatre Westport members of Westelele gather to learn new songs, techniques and chords.

We have between 15 and 20 enthusiastic Uke players who will come and go due to various reasons, which in turn can disrupt the flow of rehearsals.

So we are now putting out the call to anyone who would like to be part of a wonderful musical collective to pop along to see our tutor David at 1.30pm, 30 mins before each class to answer any queries or to get help in choosing an instrument.

All our chords, songs etc or on the website to peruse or download, this will help you to catch up with the rest of the group.

We have plans throughout the year including workshops and a visit to other Uke groups and festivals. Hopefully we can have our own festival in the future.

Singing

Hi Everyone,

Singing is an integral part of a Ukulele Orchestra and this Saturday 2pm at The Town hall Theatre we will concentrating some of this week’s class to vocals.

It’s important that we have a good turn out to hear what we have as a collective group. There will be solos, duos, trios and the whole group singing unison; as well as trying out some harmonies.

We are not expecting a heavenly choir but a decent representation of the songs we perform.

Don’t forget to look at the latest song ‘Falling Slowly’ and the tabs associated with it on our LESSONs page here and looking forward to hearing you.

Weekly Songs

Hi Everyone,

We have been trying to learn one song every week with Westelele and I know it seems difficult but just a little practice and patience and you will get there…especially that dreaded ‘G’ Chord!

I’ve put up on the LESSONS page the latest song ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ and the tabs for the intro and middle bit to mull over.

Looking forward to Saturday 26th of January 2pm at The Westport Town Hall Theatre and our next class – see you then!
